On August 1st and 2nd, 2026, the Instituto Arara Azul will host the second edition of the Hyacinth Macaw Big Day. This initiative invites local residents, landowners, researchers, and birdwatchers across Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay to record sightings (or even the absence) of the Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) in the wild.
Inspired by the Global Big Day, this citizen science effort aims to gather updated data on the species' distribution and population numbers. Anyone can participate from farms, rural areas, or backyard gardens — simply capture photos, videos, or audio records and submit your data.
